Museum of Gallo-Roman Civilization Located mostly underground atop the Fourviere Hill and beside Lyon's Gallo-Roman Theaters, the Museum of Gallo-Roman Civilization houses artifacts dating back thousands of years. Most of the items were found in the Rhone Valley, and some are from the time Lyon was made capital of Gaul. A few highlights are a 2,700-year-old four-wheeled vehicle, the Claudius Tablet, which transcribes a speech made by Emperor Claudius in 48 AD and the Circus Mosaic, which depicts a chariot race around the circus that once existed in Lugdunum.
